The Kings Come Away With Another Terrific Draft

For the second straight year, it looks as if the Sacramento Kings may end up with the NBA’s rookie of the year when they selected big man, DeMarcus Cousins, with the 5th overall pick last night. Some GMs believed Cousins was a top two talent, but his maturity and character issues caused him to drop a bit. But if he can put those flaws aside and play like he did at Kentucky as a freshman, he can contribute in a major way; he can score both inside and out, while dominating the glass and providing solid interior defense. With their second pick of the NBA draft, the Kings locked up one-time lottery favorite, Hassan Whiteside of Marshall. He’s a true 7-footer with a 7’7” wingspan who excels as a shot blocker. At No. 33 overall, he is a great value for Sacramento.
