Minnesota's Mbakwe Arrested

The Golden Gophers could be in trouble this week as forward Trevor Mbakwe, the team's leading scorer (13.4) and rebounder (10.4) was booked on misdemeanor charges for violating a harassment restraining order for a former girlfriend. The junior was brought to jail for posting a message on his former girlfriend's Facebook wall.

This obviously isn't great news for the Minnesota basketball team; it's likely Mbakwe could be suspended for this week's game against Purdue, a must win for the team early in conference play. The Golden Gophers are already just 1-3 in Big Ten play and losing this one at home would make Minnesota 1-4, while Purdue would take a 5-0 lead in the Big Ten.

After transferring from Marquette in 2007-08 and consequently sitting out the following year per transfer regulations, Mbakwe was not allowed to play last season while facing a felony battery charge from his days at Miami-Dade Community College.
