Georgia Tech's Frontcourt Finally Comes Together in Win Over #16 Clemson

For the first time this season, Junior Forward Gani Lawal and Freshman Forward Derrick Favors, finally looked like the dominating frontcourt combination everyone thought they would be. They are coming together at the right time; the Yellow Jackets are winner of three of their last four games, with their wins coming against #5 Duke, #13 North Carolina and #16 Clemson. But none was as important as tonight's game- getting Lawal and Favors on the same page is something Coach Paul Hewitt has been looking to create all season.

Coming into the game, the two Forwards were combining for 26 points and 18 rebounds a night, but they have not worked well together. They have struggled in high-post/low-post play and have yet to become the nation's best frontcourt. Well, tonight they entered the discussion with some strong words. Against a ranked team known for their interior defense, Favors and Lawal broke out. They combined for 33 points (on 15-for-23 shooting, 65%), 24 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Adding in Georgia Tech's Guard play from Iman Shumpert and Mfon Udofia, the Yellow Jackets could be a team that has yet to play their best basketball. ACC, watch out!
