Setback at Wake Forest

With the latest news of sophomore guard J.T. Terrell leaving the Wake Forest program, head coach Jeff Bzdelik suffers yet another setback. On the court, his Demon Deacons were pretty horrendous, finishing 8-24 overall with their best win coming against Iowa in November and beating only Virginia in conference play. But off the floor, his players have been just a putrid. It was not too long ago that the team was competing for ACC titles, and now the program is just hoping to compete with fellow-Division I teams in general; of the team's 24 losses a year ago, 20 of them were double-digit defeats.

The departure of Terrell hurts as he was one of the few bright spots and was being counted on to carry the team back to respectability this season; he was second on the team in scoring with 11.1 points and shot 35.7 percent from behind the arc last year. Terrell was Rivals.com's No. 53 recruit in the class of 2010.

So far in 2011, Bzdelik has permanently dismissed freshman forward Melvin Tabb, while fellow big man, Ty Walker, a one-time highly touted recruit, was kicked off the team as well; Walker posted the eighth highest block rate last season, swatting 12.7 percent of his opponents' shots.
