Living Up To The Potential: Xavier Gibson, Florida State

Coach Leonard Hamilton marked him as the starting center last year, convinced the 6'11" Gibson would have a breakout junior year. When injuries struck in late December, Gibson missed more than a month of action and was never the same player after that point.

Due to his size, quickness and versatility, Gibson still has an NBA future, but that light is not as bright as it once was. His skills and attributes allow him to play both inside and out, although, he would much prefer to avoid contact and play on the perimeter. At least he has in the past. Gibson has gained some muscle this offseason up to 250 pounds and Hamilton hopes that Gibson will learn to play inside more often, which will open up his outside game.

The Seminole frontcourt is crowded with Okaro White, Bernard James and others, but Gibson will play an integral part in Florida State's success as a starter or key reserve.
