Anatoly Bose Goes Off Again

With a current record of 7-14, there isn't much to talk about when it comes to Nicholls State. Not many even know what conference the Colonels are in, more or less where Nicholls State is located. Well after a short research break, you'll find that it's in the Southland Conference and the University is in the middle of "Cajun Country" in Thibodaux, Louisiana, about an hour away from New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Far, far away from Thibodaux is Sydney, Australia, but that's where Anatoly Bose, the Colonels best player comes from. The 6'6" guard/forward was selected to play for the Australian Under-19 team in 2006 and also received invites to the Nike Basketball Camp in Asia, as well as prominent tournaments in the States. Now a junior, this lanky wing player is bursting onto the national scene even with the little attention Nicholls State receives. In a loss to Stephen F. Austin Wednesday evening, the Australian went off for 38 points by way of hitting 11-of-22 shots from the floor, including six 3s. This is no surprise to his conference foes who saw him go off for 46 points just a few games ago, while also chipping in with 14 rebounds.

Against more recognizable competition, Bose had 20 points and 6 rebounds in a loss to nationally ranked New Mexico and in an in-state matchup at LSU, he scored 24 points with 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks.

If he returns to school for his senior season (instead of leaving early to play abroad), Anatoly Bose is a player to keep an eye out for next year.
