Former-Rice Arsalan Kazemi To Transfer

Former-Rice Owl Arsalan Kazemi has announced his intention to leave the basketball program and transfer to a high-Divison I school. Why is a player from the lowly program of Rice so notable? Even at just 6'7", Kazemi averaged a double-double each of the last two seasons, 15.2 points, 11.0 rebounds as a sophomore and 12.1 points, 10.3 rebounds as a junior.

There is not a whole lot of buzz surrounding the undersized, underwhelmingly athletic power forward, but the production has been fantastic for Kazemi, even against some of the nation's stronger programs. He finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds against Texas A&M, 11 points, 10 rebounds at Texas in 2011-12, 26 points, 14 rebounds versus Miami (FL) and 17 and 6 against Arizona in 2010-11. More consistent production like this for Kazemi could help his pro prospects as rebounding is the one skill that is pretty highly transferrable to the NBA.
