NCAA Tournament Teams? North Carolina Tar Heels

Look at UNC's overall team stats on the season: 7th in points per game (79.1), 5th in rebounds (42.2), 2nd in assists (18.4), so one would think that it would be ridiculous for the Tar Heels to even be on the NCAA Tournament bubble at this point of the season, right?

UNC has a 14-6 record overall, and is barely above .500 in ACC play, but are aided in the fact that they resume posts a RPI of 34 and a SOS of 31. In fact, 4 of the team's 6 losses have come to teams currently ranked in the Top 25, including two Top 10 teams. But where are all the wins? The Tar Heels have nearly half of their total victories on the year coming against sub-150 RPI foes and they have looked very average against the top competition, 1-4 against RPI Top 50, 3-5 against RPI Top 100 opponents.

For North Carolina to get off the bubble, they will need some more victories to highlight their profile. Luckily, they have remaining contests against Miami, Duke (x2) and N.C. State, but games against Miami and Duke are on the road, difficult places to get a "W" this season.
