Shawn Kemp Jr.'s Breakout Performance For Washington

Playing a career-high 24 minutes, the son of former NBA All-Star, Shawn Kemp Jr., notched career-highs in points (18) and rebounds (6) in the Huskies recent win over Arizona State. If this is a sign of things to come, scouts could be flocking to Seattle to see this power forward prospect.

Kemp Jr. reminds scouts more of the recent image of his father, a husky frontcourt presence rather than the high-flying Super Sonics leader. But at 6'9" and nearly 260 pounds, if Kemp Jr. can trim down 15-20 pounds from his frame, his conditioning should improve, earning him more minutes and his production should sky rocket.

With solid veteran guards and very good perimeter shooting from Scott Suggs and C.J. Wilcox, Washington would greatly benefit from a true post presence to space the floor and keep defenses honest. In just 24 minutes, Kemp Jr. scored a few buckets in transition, but moreso took advantage of his size in the low post to score his 18 points and collect 3 offensive rebounds.

Let's keep an eye on Kemp Jr. after catching a glimpse of his untapped potential this past week.
