Vargas' Signing Impacts Kentucky

With news of former Florida Gator Eloy Vargas committing to Kentucky after a year in the junior college ranks, the Wildcats add a much-needed frontcourt presence and experience to a youthful team. Kentucky recently lost five players to the 2010 NBA Draft and several seniors to graduation, but will look to replace these members with four incoming freshman guards, one first year frontcourt player and now Vargas.

Vargas brings some experience (appearing in nine games as a freshman at Florida), but more importantly, is another big body in the Wildcats' frontcourt that is trying to replace DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson and Daniel Orton with Enes Kanter. At 6'9", Vargas can contribute immediately off of the bench, especially on the defensive end. He could turn out to be a key signing for Kentucky flying under the radar.
