Strengths
Right-handed… Dawson is one of the best combinations of size, strength and athleticism in the nation; he is a big-time athlete, measuring in at 6'6", 220 pounds, playing above the rim with power and finesse… Dawson is difficult to slow down in any setting, especially in transition. In the half court setting, Dawson puts the ball on the floor with agile slashes to the rim, finishing through contact with power… He must be accounted for when shots go up because he just has a nose for the ball and can find space and retain second-chance opportunities for the Spartans or tip-in buckets… Defensively, Dawson can guard both 3s and 4s, using his athleticism and strength. He rebounds at a high rate, where he also has the ability to turn and take the ball the other way in transition…
Weaknesses
Dawson must continue to improve his perimeter skills. He can hit an open jumper out to 20-22 feet with time and space, but is not yet comfortable shooting the ball on a regular-basis. Even though he has made big strides, he must continue to build on those to become the complete small forward prospect. Adding to his arsenal, Dawson also needs to improve his ball-handling and court vision to take his game to the next level.
