#15 DeMarcus Cousins | F - C
Stats

Hometown: Birmingham, AL

Height: 6'11"

Weight: 260

Position: Power Forward/Center

Team: Kentucky

Class: Freshman
Strengths

Right handed....The first thing a scout notices about Cousins is his unbelievable size - as a Freshman at Kentucky, he stands 6'11", 260 pounds with a 7'6" wingspan… In the post, he is a monster- pinning defenders behind him and using his soft hands to catch the ball… Offensively, he shows great awareness and understanding what to do - reading the defense well, its just a matter of putting his plan into action… He is agile and versatile- comfortable handling the ball in transition and is quite capable of shooting the ball from outside… He has above-average passing skills with solid court vision… Defensively, he uses his strength and length to block and alter numerous shots… He is an athlete, but needs to continue to trim down his frame to gain more explosiveness…

Weaknesses

At 6'11", 260 pounds, Cousins should pound the ball inside, however, he can float outside and sit on the wing or 3-point line- playing away from his greatest strength- post play; though it should be noted that he has gotten better staying on the low blocks under Coach Calipari… Conditioning- he has never been in very good shape, but is certainly on his way- with a loss in weight and body fat, he has the potential to be more explosive and more athletic… His offensive post moves are not fully developed, as they are a bit sloppy and lacking textbook form… Questionable drive and motor, which could stem from his lack of conditioning…
