Strengths

Left-handed… The 6'7" Thomas is a versatile combo forward who has elite scoring instincts and abilities to score every time he steps onto the court. With a soft lefty hook shot inside or deep 3-point range, Thomas is either too big and strong or too athletic for most defenders. He loves to score with his left hand from the left blocks or take his defender outside where he is a solid perimeter shooter. He knock down perimeter shots as the trailer on the fast-break or even more effectively when involved in the pick-and-roll. He can step back or roll to the basket where he is rarely denied… His length, strength and athleticism have allowed Thomas to be one of the best rebounding forwards in the nation. Especially with Evan Turner gone, Thomas should be able to step right in as the team's second-leading rebounder behind classmate Jared Sullinger… He is a capable multi-position defender…
Weaknesses

Thomas' scoring abilities make him so unique that there are times where he is content on settling for jump shots, when he can get into the lane or post up all day on his defender… By improving his ball-handling, Thomas would become even more of a weapon as he would be able to create his own shot. Right now, he is best suited as a spot-up shooter or in isolation situations in the paint. By developing a tighter handle, his scoring arsenal would improve even further, especially with his right (weak) hand. He also needs to further develop a mid-range game from the foul line extended areas about 12-15 feet out. Inside the 3-point line, Thomas seems motivated to simply take the ball to the rim, but if he were to work on a pull-up jump shot, he would really enhance his game…
