Stats

Hometown: South Kingstown, RI

Height: 6'10"

Weight: 230

Position: Power Forward

Team: Florida

Class: Senior
Strengths

Right-handed… Murphy has good size to get his shot off over defenders. He is a tremendous shooter from the perimeter, somewhat in the same mold as former UF stretch-the-floor 4, Matt Bonner. His soft touch and deep range make him a valuable option in the pick-and-roll and even more so in the pick-and-pop game… He runs the floor with great fluidity and mobility, beating opposing bigs down the floor as a rim-runner or can streak down the wing as a spot-up shooter… On the occasion Murphy gets the ball on the blocks, he displays fundamentally sound footwork and can score with either hand at the rim. He shows a nice up-and-under move and confidence in his reverse lay-up to combat his lack of athleticism and utilizing the rim to shield the defender… He does most of his damage cutting to the rim, spotting up on the wing or rolling off screens.
Weaknesses

Murphy experienced some off-the-court issues early-on at Florida when he was charged with felony burglary that was eventually reduced to a misdemeanor… Murphy needs to improve his strength and utilize that with an increased sense of aggressiveness to rebound and fight on the glass… He is a sub-par athlete and his lack of assertiveness and toughness does very little to help scouts believe that he can play in the paint on either end of the floor. He shies away from contact at every opportunity.
