Strengths

Right-handed… Sims is one of the great stories in college basketball this season, finally breaking out for the Hoyas in his senior year. This late-bloomer did not see many minutes through his first three seasons, but he shows flashes of his talent that made him a top talent in high school… Sims has very good size at 6'10", broad-shouldered, 245-pound frame. He is a good athlete for his size, displaying excellent fluidity and mobility… Sims has the ability to operate in both the high- and low-post. In the low blocks, he is still honing his skills, but has a nice repertoire of finesse moves including drop-steps, baby hook shots and turn-around jumpers. He has the ability to finish with either hand in the paint and feels comfortable operating on either block. In the high-post, Sims is a threat given his ability to put the ball on the floor for a dribble-drive or knock down the 12-foot jump shot. With his long strides and good initial step, Sims can routinely beat his defender, but is even more of a threat because of his awesome passing abilities. He is the best passing big man in the country, finding Hoya cutters and spot-up shooters. Sims displays excellent vision and instincts with the ball in his hands…
Weaknesses

Given his excellent mobility and quickness for a player of his size, its surprising to see that Sims does not run the floor particularly well. He is heavy-footed when getting out in transition…. Sims has tremendous versatility with the ability to play in the high and low post, but he can definitely still improve. He is not a power-player by any means, so his drop-step is just average and his finishing abilities shy away from contact. When in the high-post, he is still working on improving his perimeter game, including his dribble-drive. He shows a subtle change of direction as opposed to straight-line drives and would be much more effective if he can be more effective in this area… From the high-post and mid-range on the wing, Sims can still improve the consistency of his jumpers, but looks promising…
