#1 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope | G
Stats

Hometown: Greenville, GA

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 190

Position: Shooting Guard

Team: Georgia

Class: Sophomore
Strengths

Right-handed… Caldwell-Pope is one of the best shooters in the class with a sweet stroke and some big-time range and confidence, which allows him to continue to hurt teams and put points up on the board. His quick release means that defenses have been keying in on him, which opens up the driving lanes more for his teammates and creates better spacing. It also makes Caldwell-Pope a great kick-out option when his man turns away. He has the court vision and feel for the game to slide over and get an open look… He has the ability to create his own shot with his dribble, but often prefers to float around on the perimeter. Continuing to utilize his dribble would make him less one-dimensional to hurt the defense even more. Caldwell-Pope can play at different speeds with the ball in his hands, using his court vision to find himself a shot or find teammates for scoring opportunities… As a defender, Caldwell-Pope has good fundamentals, sliding with his arms out and shows these quick, explosive bursts to get into the passing lane and take the ball down to the other end for a bucket..
Weaknesses

Caldwell-Pope lacks the ideal size for an NBA 2-guard at 6'4"… On the offensive end, he is a pure outside shooter and a volume shooter at that. He needs to bring his ball handing skills to a higher level, which would allow himself to create more off the dribble by getting to the rim or pull-up for a jumper. He has struggled in these areas against bigger, quicker athletes; it will also help Caldwell-Pope get to the free-throw line at a much higher rate where he can convert at a high rate.
