Strengths

Right-handed… Despite all of his honors (two-time all-conference choice, Big West Player of the Year, Big West scoring champion), Johnson was not well known until he played with Team USA this summer. The scoring wing is much more than that as he can seemingly do it all- score, pass, rebound, defend… He is built like a rock to score in the post, but is versatile enough to knock down shots from beyond the 3-point arc or take the ball to the rim with aggressiveness; he attempted 204 free-throws as a junior, making 80.4 percent of these attempts, but is just as lethal from the outside, making 40.5 percent of his 3-pointers… With a 7-foot wingspan and a 36" vertical leap, Johnson should be recognized on the national level this season as he leads the Gauchos… Coach Bob Williams raves about Johnson's work ethic and drive to improve his weaknesses… For a wing, Johnson is a very strong rebounder…
Weaknesses

As strong as Johnson is offensively, he can still improve in a few areas. He has an excellent first-step and loves taking his defender one-on-one, but too often, he settles for pull-up jumpers from the mid-range. He is much better when he has his feet set under him or takes the ball strong to the rim… Despite his athleticism and strength, Johnson tends to struggle finishing in traffic. There were some occasions where he threw up some circus shots and even with his body control, he could improve here. He also has a tendency to over penetrate in the lane and turn it over as a result…
