Strengths

Right-handed… Pressey fits in perfectly with the Missouri style of play, playing at different speeds and taking the ball up the floor in a matter of seconds. He displays great court vision and keeps the defense on their heels with a variety of hesitation and change of pace moves. Pressey has a tight handle and an excellent creator in the halfcourt setting. He has a low cross over and fantastic inside-out dribble-move… Pressey uses his quickness and ball-moves to create separation and get into the lane where he is dangerous given his ability to connect on finesse runners in the lane, drop off passes to his bigs or kick out the ball to his shooters. In the halfcourt, Pressey can utilize the pick-and-roll where his penetration into the lane and passing must be defended and he is just good enough as a perimeter threat to knock down these shots… Defensively, he applies very good ball pressure and moves his feet well to dictate direction of opposing ball handlers. He is athletic and quick to play the passing lanes, taking risks and gambling to come up with thefts…
Weaknesses

Pressey still has a ways to go in proving himself as an NBA-caliber point guard. Despite being undersized, Pressey tends to force the issue and take too many chances running the up-tempo offense or even gambling on defense. He can over commit and play too quickly, putting him out of position, surrounded by defenders with no way out. Pressey needs to develop a better feel for when to pull-up for a floater or short jumper and when to get further to the rim; both his assist and turnover ratios were impressively high in his rookie year with the Tigers…He must do a better job of limiting gambles on defense and keeping his man in front of him...
