Philipp Neumann | C
Strengths

Right-handed… Neumann is a very likeable prospect- a long, lean, but wiry strong big man who tries to dunk everything around the rim and shatter the backboard. He is mobile and agile enough to face-up from 10-feet and put the ball on the floor and definitely quick enough for a player of his size to beat his man down the floor for a couple of easy buckets… Neumann gets in the flow of the game and follows the path of the ball well on shots which allow him to out-position himself for the potential missed shot and rebound… A surprising aspect of Neumann's game that is developing, but the potential is impressive is his ability to play some from the perimeter. We discuss some of this below, but he appears to be comfortable putting the ball on the floor when he catches on the wing, as a trailer or when playing the high post. He can take the ball strong all the way to the rim or put up a soft-runner in the lane…
Weaknesses

He is only comfortable finishing with his right-hand around the rim and in post-isolation situations at this stage of his game. He will finish his dunks with two-hands if possible, but Neumann's scoring moves in the post are finesse moves over his left-shoulder, like a baby hook. Sometimes he moves too quick for his own good, settling for off-balance shots or runners- not exactly what a coach wants from their near-7-footer. Neumann will need to settle himself down low and develop consistency with his left-hand… On occasion, Neumann shows some perimeter skills, but needs to develop this moreso. His shot mechanics are awkward at best, but he does have a nice touch… He tends to play out of control, leading to charges or wild shot attempts. He is a straight line driver with zero ball moves and no chance at changing direction. Again, he needs to settle himself offensively… There are times Neumann can be a black hole when he operates offensively, and then there are other times where he shares the ball quite nicely and shows good passing instincts.
