#30 Royce White | F

Hometown: Minnetonka, MN

Height: 6'8"

Weight: 250

Position: Small Forward/Power Forward

Team: Iowa State

Class: Sophomore
Note: Royce White transferred from Minnesota to Iowa state during his fresman season.

Right-handed… White is one of the most versatile players, not just at his position, but of any position. He has the ability to score both inside and out, defend wings and post players alike and hit the boards with the best of them. He plays physical, throwing his 240-pound frame around in the post and using his strength to back defenders down or keep his opponents from gaining scoring positioning on him. He has very good athleticism and is an active player- allowing him to pickup steals, deflections and blocked shots from his defense on-the-ball or as a help defender… He has the ability to step outside and knock down a mid-range jumper with some consistency or put the ball on the floor and take slower defenders off the dribble. At this point, his scoring instincts and skills are still raw with potential to fill up the stat sheet nicely…

White could benefit huge from a developed perimeter game. Not only would it allow him to combat his lack of size for an NBA power forward by stepping outside and spreading the floor, but it would emphasize his quickness and athleticism advantages over other bigs and set-up his dribble-drive opportunities. On that note, White could certainly use some improvement with his ball-handling skills. He is more apt to driving in a straight line without much of a change in direction… Like we just mentioned, White stands at about 6'8", an inch or two below average height for an NBA 4-man. He doesn't have the advanced skill set to transition to the 3… White ran into some troubles during his stint at Minnesota. Before he even played in a game, he was kicked off the team. His off-the-court issues stem from being charged in a shoplifting case and suffers with an anxiety disorder as well. These two bumps in the road taken will cause some hesitation for an NBA team to pull the trigger on him… Due to his year-long suspension at Minnesota and then subsequent sitting out after transferring, White is old for his class year…
