Position: Point Guard

Team: Connecticut

Strengths

Right-handed… Known as a scoring guard early on in his career, Napier has developed nicely into a true point guard who simply creates buckets and makes plays with the ball in his hands. He has a high basketball IQ and sees the floor well to run UConn's offense or freewheel off of it… Napier is always in attack mode, where he is one of the better guards at penetrating, drawing the defense and then kicking it out to an open teammate. Or if the defense is late-arriving, Napier has a smooth floater he relies on… He can kill defenses in the pick-and-roll game, threading bounce passes through the defense or keeping the ball and splitting the double-team for a basket… With the ball in his hands, he favors his hesitation moves to keep the defense off balance. Napier goes to his jab step most often, but can always put down a low crossover or spin move to create separation. Napier also has an inside-out dribble that can freeze the defense as he changes speeds to beat his defender…
Weaknesses

Napier is undersized for the next level standing below 6-feet… He came in with a reputation as an excellent long-range shooter with very deep range, but never really got going with the Huskies. He shot just 32 percent as a freshman from behind the arc and 37 percent overall… Napier has the ability to lower his turnovers by making the simpler play. He over-penetrated on drives and left his feet for passes that resulted in turnovers, but in most cases, his decision-making is very sound…
